Apparently is a succinct satire on the impersonal nature of working for a large company. Emma, the editor's assistant, has been asked to collect contributions towards a leaving present for someone called Ray Fisher.

People have widely differing feelings about Ray Fisher. Most however, are indifferent; most, in fact, don't even know who Ray Fisher is. As it transpires, Emma herself is of the latter group.
